Loughborough University Graduate School Development Trust Africa Scholarship
If you actually interested in studying in the UK next year, you can start the process well in advance to enable you beat the deadline for this scholarship opportunity.
The scholarships are for students from Africa intending to study at Loughborough.
Number of Awards
Five scholarships are available to new full time international taught postgraduate students from Africa.
Value of scholarships
The scholarships cover 100% of the course fees for your chosen postgraduate taught course for one year replacing any Departmental or Loughborough University scholarship or bursary you may already have been awarded
Conditions for Award
Students may not apply for the scholarships after an offer for a place has been made.
The selection panel, made up of the senior staff of the University, will be looking for the very highest academic achievers, and those who will contribute most to their society when they return home after their course.

Scholarship Application Checklist
The scholarship application form should indicate
• Personal details
• Qualifications with transcripts and copies of degree certificates enclosed
• References
• Personal statement in support of your application which should explain why you believe you have demonstrated academic excellence and potential and how you will contribute to the development of your home country when you return.
You may indicate past achievements, past contributions to social or economic development of your home country, university, and how you expect to benefit from the course of study
• Financial statementthe LU Development Trust Africa Scholarship offers only 100% of tuition fees and does not cover living expenses such as accommodation, feeding, books and travel costs.
Therefore, the university in granting this scholarship would consider mostly students who have already demonstrated the initiative to secure some funding for their studies, but for whom the LU Development Trust Africa scholarship will provide a real opportunity.
In this column, you are expected to provide specific information about
• The total cost of study for your courseincluding fees, accommodation, living costs and travel from your home country
• Your current sources of fundsincluding who your sponsors areif any, how much support they have offered, and any scholarship applications which you have made which are pending a final decision.
• Your family background and parental occupations
• What your current shortfall of funding is
Deadline for Applications
The scholarship application form is expected to reach Loughborough by 30th April of the year of proposed entry into postgraduate study.

Notification of Scholarship Result
All those applying for the scholarship will be notified of the outcome by email by the end of May at the latest.
Any award made to an applicant holding a conditional offer will be subject to those conditions being met in full.
Applicant may be asked to pay a deposit towards their living costs as part of the conditions of the scholarship offer.
