One of the highest challenges I know that stops Nigerian prospective students from studying Abroad is lack of money to fund their studies overseas.
I was one of the people who were desperate to make it abroad for the sole reason of undertaking my masters Degree there. My target was United Kingdom.
I had a very close friend and brother who were with me in this struggle when we graduated in 2000 from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka Campus.
However, I was very strong at heart that no matter the higher fees that foreign students pay especially students from non-European union countries, that I would secure a scholarship that would take me to the UK.
In 2002-2003, I did my service at Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria and hit the labour market but couldn’t get any job. I decided to help someone out in her “business centre” with some computer works until 2005 when my story changed.
This is quite against my background in Microbiology but I did it because I love working with computers just like my friend, BO.
My determination became so strong when I discovered that I wasn’t getting headway in the Nigerian labour market.
In 2005, I secured a company scholarship even though I was not working in that company. Someone told me about the scholarship opportunity and I applied just like every other person did and wow I got it.
All my expenses to the United Kingdom were paid-tuition, accommodation, feeding, books, flight fares and every other expenses you can think of.
Am I lucky! You may ask! I got it because I didn’t give up.
I had some of my friends then who were mocking my effort but today, they are regretting not trying at all. All they say is “had I known I could have applied for that scholarship with you”. But that’s in the past now.
So, don’t follow the crowd for he who follows the crowd gets to nowhere.
Learn to be different, daring and independent as I was.
International scholarships are real as I am a living witness.
I recommend that you get a copy of both or any of the E-books on STUDY ABROAD FUNDING FOR NIGERIANS IN 18 COUNTRIES AND STUDY ABROAD FUNDING FOR NIGERIANS ON MBA PROGRAMMES today. Simply send mail to studyabroadfunding@gmail.com
It is the only e-book for now that targets the Nigerian students on Funding Opportunities and so the most comprehensive covering the seven continents.
It might interest you that I am still working in the UK.
So, go get it.
See you at the top.
